Eat Local

Dunbar is a fishing town, you could be forgiven for thinking that beyond fish what other food is local? Well the answer is plenty, East Lothian is rich in resources of fresh food from meat to vegetables and fruit. So what would compel you to eat something grown closer to home? Here are just a few reasons:

  • It makes economic sense, the money you spend goes back into producing more great quality food, right here in your county.

  • It helps the environment as it reduces your carbon footprint to have local food delivered but a few miles and not half way around the world.

  • You get what you asked for, let's face it we can never rely on getting what it says on the tin these days, but with producers so close to home you can actually go and see it produced.

  • It's frequently cheaper. With a Butcher offering family packs to rival any supermarket meat deal, a vegetable box available to your door and great smoked fish produced within the town boundaries, you will find making the switch easy on the purse.

  • Its convenient and available when YOU want. Dairy products delivered to your door, or how about a vegetable box with fresh produced seasonal veg to last you a fortnight or perhaps you prefer a daily stroll to collect your freshly baked loaf from one of the two local bakeries.

Listen local – Busking in Dunbar

"I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music."

-Billy Joel

If you are a musician or know a local musician who would like their music heard more locally then why not get in touch. We are looking to regularly run busking events (indoor and outdoor) to improve the ambiance of the High street specifically during the busy summer months. We also have a number of traders who would happily play local CD's to help the promotion of the individual.

If you love music and like discovering local talent then Dunbar has it in abundance, check out our what’s on calendar to see where you can get your next taste of local musical talent, or why not check out Dunbar events Facebook page.
