On a blustery, but pleasant day the air was filled around Dunbar with the stirring sound of pipes and drums as 37 pipe bands from all around the country competed at the annual Dunbar Pipe Band day on Saturday 17 May, 2014.
Up to 3000 people were expected to attend the event and they were certainly not to be disappointed. Starting at 10.30am and running through to 5pm visitors and competitors not only enjoyed the facilities of Hallhill Healthy Living Centre, but many visited the town centre. As well as listening to the wonderful pipe bands there was a range of stalls, children's entertainment and refreshments. Dunbar Trades' Association held their popular pop-up gazebo promoting Dunbar and its wide range of facilities and local businesses. Thanks to all who helped; Bobbie Peters, Manager at Hallhill, Mandy Cairns Ford (Belhaven Bikes), David Pate (Belhaven Smokehouse), Malky Mitchell (Splatz) and Pauline Jaffray (PJ Design).
Denny & Dunipace Gleneagles Pipe Band won the Grade 1 and Best Drum Corps.
