Dunbar SciFest is now in its fourth year and immediately established itself, from year one, as an extremely successful Science Festival. It has reached the goal of being a significant annual festival which ensured that Dunbar became a major Scottish focus for public engagement with Science.
Dunbar’s first SciFest in 2011 brought the local and wider Scottish Science community together in our town and this has continued year after year. The event is the product of a lot of hard work by an army of volunteers and is organised by the Science Sub-Group of Dunbar Primary School’s Parent Council. This group formed Dunbar Science Club which also organises Dunbar Science Club, which runs three Saturday morning workshops, twice a month.
Dunbar Trades’ Association is delighted to be bringing a flavour of the businesses located in Dunbar to SciFest on Sunday 23 March 2014. Participating businesses such as Graze, The Royal Mackintosh Hotel, William Mason Footwear, Bowe Sports, Dunbar T-Shirt Shop, Litherland – Milk Deliveries and Belhaven Bikes will provide general information available about the town, promotional offers, giveaways, a competition to ‘Guess the Choccies in the Jar’, which complements Dunbar Primary School’s ‘Together We Count’ initiative, and a free prize draw to win afternoon tea, which has been kindly donated by Graze Coffee House in Dunbar.
On display will also be the Molecule Hunt, prize winners’ hampers which have been generously donated by DTA members participating in the Molecule Hunt competition. Entries for the Molecule Hunt can be accepted up until Saturday 22 March 2014. More details here.
We look forward to seeing you all this Sunday at SciFest, please pop by and say hello!
